Birds (Cormorants?) enjoying a nice sunny day looking over Tillamook Bay (on the Oregon Coast) from their private island.

Oh, so much to like! Clouds, clear water, nice positioning of the landmass, a twisted tree (well, almost) and birdlife. This is truly a great shot Jerry.

Eye pleasing composition and a well taken landscape. The birds have quite a vantage point!

A nice shot and a good idea. The masses support the tree fairly well. However, the clouds distract from the story as they, to my view, draw attention away from the tree with birds. I would think cropping down to just above the tree, eliminating the clouds, would make for a stronger photograph. Possibly cropping out half of the water. There also seems to be a need for stronger light on some of the rock formation.

Still, it is a strong photograph and well seen. What I am suggesting is my personal bias towards more simplicity. This might also increase the feeling of "presence."

I can only agree with Jim on this, it is a good shot but the clouds are too strong an element. They are bright and interesting but the eye is invariably drawn to the brighter elements in a picture. Everything should be subjugate to the main element, in this case the birds, tree and rocks.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll look into what I can do with the clouds, perhaps making them less strong.

Thank you for the comments. I'll see what I can do to better balance the tonal aspects of the subjects with the background.
