Thanks... Old east Dallas was the 1st residential neighborhood development outside of downtown Dallas. The area where my shop is was for the 'working class' with residential hotels and boarding houses. Just a few blocks away was where the doctors and lawyers & such took up residence. http://www.sahd.org/ Much of the earliest arcetecture dates back to the late 1800's.

Very neat! Thanks for the history lesson and posting that link. Gorgeous homes. I particularly like the older ones.

One of the very first housing developments in Dallas was "Browder St." only 3 blocks long - just a couple blocks west from the Old Town park - the developer was the owner/settler of Browder Springs which is still a major water supply for that part of Dallas.
Yep - a grand parent from waaaayyyy back.

Very cool... I'm going to google that in a bit. I've lived and worked here for 60 of my 62 years on this earth. (I live in Irving now but have worked for Dallas Area Rapid Transit or their predecessor for 30 years) I kind of have a love - hate relationship with the city. Dallas has a big hart & lots of good people but seems to be all about image. It's not who you are, it's who you look like... That & in Dallas when money talks, nobody walks... Like George Harrison said 'It's all up to what you value as to who you are - is it a motor car?"
