I posted http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-337836-1.html in the photo gallery a few days ago. One of the replies suggested letting the 'guys in the PPDI' section having a go at it.
The Spitfire looks reasonably sharp - but I've lost it with the Hurricane. Could be a slow shutter speed but I'm thinking camera shake as I stopped down shutter speed to get prop movement.

Original photo showed planes flying out of shot and Hurricane only just in so I increased canvas size and used spot healer to replicate sky. Auto sharpened, all in PSE10.

Thanks in anticipation. Let me know what you do if you are successful.

Here is a crude attempt that still needs work.

Made a few adjustments in ACR. Added some canvas to the bottom and the right side then made a 10x8 crop. Selected the spitfire and adjusted the bottom shadow on it. Added a new sky.

Thank-you both. As I recall the day was very much like SoHillGuy's modifications with towering, but brilliant white clouds facing the sun, and deep menacing greys in the shadows. I would have struggled with that and so was glad to get this shot as they just flew into a clear zone. A reply to the original post suggested a monopod might be useful (or perhaps a gimbal head on my tripod). Slightly lower speed and better panning might avoid the adverse effects on the prop during sharpening.

Once again, thanks both.

roadking11 - I'm liking that, it's done a lot for the sharpness on the Hurricane in particular.

Thanks John, it was tough, I had to paint over some of the emblems to make it appear sharper.

Tough indeed - I'm not ready for that yet. What programme do you use?

I use Photoshop CC 2015 and many of the Topaz plug-ins.
