Streaming NFL TV/Apple TV question

I tried to talk to a human from Apple TV, Apple Service, and NFL TV without success.
I have Verizon Fios TV service, so I cannot buy NFL Sunday ticket; I checked; Direct TV/AT&T owns the contract. But, I can stream NFL TV to watch live games on my computer or my iPhone 6+.
Apple sells a black box called Apple TV. Now the question.
Can I attach the Apple TV box to my Sony HD flat screen TV so that I can watch the NFL TV streaming games on my Sony TV instead of having to watch them on my Lenovo Windows 7 computer?

You can set your phone to play through the Apple TV I believe, I don't know about the pc we have macs and we can with them. You get a bit of a lag if your wireless but very smooth if a hard connection

if your router is near your tv and apple tv box you can run an ethernet wire to feed the box. if not, you can go wireless. verizon fios has really good internet service, so there should be no lag doing so. now, your cable box is probably feeding the tv by an HDMI cord. its probably going into HDMI port 1. your tv should have a couple HDMI inputs. run a new HDMI from your apple box to HDMI #2. grab your tv's remote and hit the input button. pick HDMI #2, watch your game and when you're done grab the tv remote and go back to HDMI #1 to change back to the cable box. i hope this helps. if i misunderstood your question sorry. gary

I have an Apple TV box connected to my Sony tv.
You attach the apple TV box to your tv with a HDMI lead, then you can link it with your apple device and watch the game on your TV,

I'm going to this hook-up with modification...my TV has only one HDMI input, I'll use it for the AppleTV and use another type of input for my cable box input.
I'm not sure if I can hook the Ethernet cable from my router to the Appletv, and use the wireless function of the router, at the same time?

Hi Nikonlad,
You can get a HDMI splitter from Bestbuy or Radioshack, this would help keep your cable box on HDMI.

P.S.

Would you wait for the new Apple TV, big price difference?

That is up to you.
Unless you want the newest with all the bells & whistles and are prepared to pay the extra and wait for them to come in to stores.

Personally I feel the price for the old Apple Tv 3rd generation is a bargain at $65.00.
I use mine every day it beats all the hundreds of channels of rubbish that my cable company has.

check to see if your tv has red/blue/green and a separate red/white next to it. that is a component in. you can get 1080i off of that but the audio isn't pure digital that way. i can never tell the difference unless i hook up a sound bar or surround sound. and, for those i use a fiber optic patch cord. don't use red/white/yellow alone or just a coax feed into the tv. you won't get the high def. picture you're looking for. good luck. gary
