Is there a stand alone version of the latest PS or I am forced to subscribe to the Adobe Cloud? I have LR6 (non cloud) on my iMac and also PSE13, but need some features not available in PSE. Thanks.

CS6 was the last boxed version. Just google that and see what you come up with.

Nobody is "forced" to spend on anything, except maybe taxes.

Adobe has determined that, in their view, both Adobe and their customers are better off with a "cloud" approach to software delivery. They are not alone. It is more efficient, provides better piracy protection, makes both updates and bug fixes more effective, etc. Based on articles in software business publications, the "cloud" system is working well for all but a very few "die hards". It appears that Adobe has determined they can afford to lose those few and provide more benefit to the majority.

If you are unhappy with the "Adobe Cloud", please consider spending your money on something elsewhere where you will be happy. There are a lot of choices.

Nobody is "forced" to spend on anything,... (show quote)

In the opinions of many, if you have to go with only one way of getting things you are being forced. If you lived ion a town that only had a Ford Auto Parts Store you would be forced to drive a Ford or to drive to another town to get parts for your Honda, Chevy, Fiat, Lotus, Jaguar, etc. or ride a bicycle. So if there is only one way to get what you want that is forced.

Also if there is only one way to get a product you are being forced.

I did not see anything about the idea being bad, but like the OP being forced into only one way of purchasing to my way of thinking is like walking into a building and drinking doctored Kool Aid

I fold. I know I shouldn't post opinions against the anti Adobe grain. Last I read there are 4 million plus that like it and pay for it. Microsoft and Apple do the cloud thing now too!

I sincerely apologize for being grumpy this morning.

I have the new CC and really like it but I do have friends that use PS at work and this can cause an issue. For one thing a lot of companies have dark networks and don't allow their pc's to touch the internet. That is one of the biggest problems with going to the cloud. I could name others but most have to do with bandwidth..etc.

Photoshop CC only uses the internet to check your license all the software is on the local hard drive. The bandwidth it needs is minimum.

I have CC loaded on my laptop and last week I opened it and it said my trial license was about to expire. Laptop hadn't been connected to the net or a while. CC still worked but everytime I loaded it same message. Connected to the internet and logged back into my account and it is working fine. Maybe Adobe will do the same thing MicroSoft did. Once licensed the software won't keep reaching out to the licensing server.

So your opinion of forced is different than someone else's.

I spent a lot of money a couple years ago buying an entire suite of Adobe products: CS6 Production Premium (which includes Photoshop). I will use it for years and perhaps never have to "pay as I go" with CC products. I like having all these applications but only use Photoshop, InDesign and Dreamweaver enough to warrant paying monthly for them.

You might find someone selling Photoshop CS6 and there is a (very cumbersome) procedure for transferring the license from seller to buyer.

Good Luck.

If your going to use pirate software, don't pay for it!

If you look at the assorted accreditation's they claim, they are all bogus.
Adobe Approved Reseller ? links to Adobe.com and definitely not approved by adobe; i checked 2 months back. When I telephoned Adobe looking to buy from Adobe, they showed no interest in this bogus site when I told them about it.

Photoshop CC is still available on pirate sites just as it ever was... It's just a pity adobe will not sell older versions or even let you buy new versions and downgrade rights.

I eventually managed to buy from Amazon.
