Hi! I have several lenses and a D80 body that I need to sell. What do y'all think is the best way to do it? Sell to B&H, Adorama, KEH one of those places? or eBay? somewhere else?

TIA

You'll get the best prices by selling on eBay. I've bought and sold photo gear with good success. However, there is substantial work involved in selling on eBay, so if your time is worth something, that has to be accounted for in your net return. Something could go wrong, you're assuming the risk. And be aware that eBay will take 10% and PayPal 3%.

B&H, Adorama, KEH will pay quite a bit less. But it'll be a simple transaction with little work and no risk.

You'll have to balance your time & effort of selling yourself a 10MP camera discontinued from 2008 along with lenses. You may find the only market to be a wholesale buyer like KEH. The lenses may retain more of their original value, but it does depend on the model(s). KEH will give you a firm price and a prepaid mailing label for the shipping. They'll pay as soon as the receive and rate the equipment. The only difference will be if their rating doesn't match yours.

Several recent eBay sales for D80 in excellent condition were for $100-$120 plus about $10 for shipping. You'll probably net around $100.

KEH is selling D80 body for $160. You should go to KEH website and get a quote for what they will pay you. The difference (if any) may not be worth the hassle/risk of selling it yourself.

As Pat pointed out above, I would first try to sell here in the UHH Classified section.
I think that you will get a fair price for the equipment. You never know what someone is looking for and willing to pay a decent price.
Good luck!

You won't get any thing for it from a big camera store . The throw you a peanut then overcharge some sucker because he gets a month warranty with it . a d80 is worthless . The lens may be worth some thing depends what you
Have . I wouldn't buy anything that is over two years and not refurbished by
Nikon . Try creag's list or kijiji . Or the buy and sell

Adam, as has been said, try here. I've never sold anything here, but I did buy a flash once and had a good experience as well as got a pretty good deal!
Most of my used buying and selling has been on Craig's List. I've had great experiences there, but many are way to paranoid to go face to face. Good luck!! ;-)

Over the last 10 years or so, I have had excellent results selling on Craigs List. Its free and the buyer gets to touch the merchandise. I have never had a bad experience. I usually meet at a Starbucks and only deal in cash. Good luck.

I like your idea of meeting at Starbucks - it leaves your home site clear of any potential danger.

If you're in any camera clubs or photography meetup groups those are good places to sell. Do a search for photography meetup groups in your area and join them. You can get more money and don't have the hassle of shipping.

This is what the D80 is selling for. Mention the shutter count in your description, if it's low enough.

The D80 makes a great infrared conversion at lifepixel.com. Love mine.
