Hi all,

I am considering this lens, but since it is relatively new there are very few reviews online. Has anyone bought or used this lens, and if so, what is your opinion?

At the current pricing it is an amazingly good value, but not quite as sharp as the Nikon and Canon versions. However it is stabilized and currently has a $200 rebate on it making the end cost only $1099, amazingly inexpensive for such a fast, stabilized lens.

I know Tokina usually produces very good lenses but before you invest in it, you might want to look at Sigma's 24-105 f4. I own the Nikon 24-70 2.8 and while I think it is the sharpest lens I own, I recently purchased the Sigma for it's extended range. Now it stays on my camera 90% of the time. I find it to be equally sharp to the Nikon and the range is what I needed to shoot events like weddings and parties. At constant f4 the focus is very slightly slower than the Nikon but the greater range, the VR, and the price which is less than half what the new Nikon 24-70 2.8 with VR sells for, more than makes up for the slight reduction in focus speed.
