I startled a mallard female duck when I made a sudden movement as I was walking around looking at my flowerbeds that need to be worked in. A shallow hole was dug out with one egg in it. I hope she comes back to lay more eggs, that I did not permanently scare her away.
Mallard's Nest
Here are pictures for Day 2 and Day 3. This nest can be viewed from one of the back windows in the house.
Day 2. There are two eggs in the nest. Mama Mallard covered them before leaving the nest.
Day 3. There are three eggs in the nest. I think my granddaughter scared Mama Mallard off before she could get her nest covered.
On Day 4 all the eggs were gone. I'm thinking some animal ate the eggs. Today, Day 5, still no eggs. I'm thinking Mama Mallard found a new location for her nest. But there is another mallard nest in my flowerbed as well. That nest is now at Day 3. Here is a new nest.

awe what a shame, but i have seen that happen before with nesting birds.
The coons or crows will make off with the smaller eggs, and i guess even snakes take a liking to Eggs.
