Need help with PSE11 plugins for D610 raw files

I'm trying to install plugin updates for PSE 11. I opened up PSE11, then opened up the Editor and clicked on File>Updates, but nothing happens. I tried installing it from the internet at Adobe's site too, but no luck. A pop up note suggested that I download the Adobepatchinstaller and run it. I downloaded it and tried to run it, but nothing happens. I opened up a chat session and was told to go to the forums. That was of little help. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks! Lou

PSE 11 will not open raw files from the D610.

You need to purchase an upgrade.

The alternative is to download the free Adobe converter which will enable PSE 11 to use the dng files produced from the converter.

Thank you for that information. I can stop beating my head against the wall. I'll take at look at the link and decide what to do. It may be time for a PSE upgrade and/or LR.

Thanks again, Lou

Hi Durango,
I think you will have to go to Elements 13, which is what I did to load RAW files from my D610.
If I may ask you a question ( nothing to do with your problem), if you display an image on your D610 screen, zoom in to maximum, does your display show a sharp image or do you have to zoom out 2 presses before it is sharp? Max zoom on mine does not show a sharp image.

Thanks for the info on the PSES11. I just got the D610 two days ago. I had the D600 before that. If I zoom in at full zoom mine is not sharp either, but like you if I zoom out 2 presses it is sharp again. Have you tried to crop in pp up to 50% to see if it's sharp? I'll give that a try later today and PM you. Thanks, Lou

If you do decide to upgrade, and can wait a few weeks:
"Traditionally" (since version 8) the new version of PSE is released towards the end of September - which is less than 2 weeks away now.
Equally "traditional" it seems, between Black Friday and Christmas the new version will go on sale for about $50.
Some more info for PSE 14 here:

Thanks for the tip on when to upgrade and for the link on PSE 14. I can use the work around suggested by Searcher or I can save to RAW and JPEG for now.

Thanks, Lou

If you have the CD/DVD that came with your camera it should have Nikon transfer 2 & View NX2 on it you can use it to convert to a format that Elements 11 can use.

Thanks for that information. I have the CD/DVD for the D610. I'll definitely get it installed in the next few days and give that a try. Thanks Again, Lou

I wanted to give a quick update. As a work around I used NX2 to import my files then saved the NEFF to TIFF and was able to import them into PSE11. Since PSE14 just came out, I upgraded to it a couple of days ago. Problem solved! Again thanks to everyone that offer great solutions. Lou

Nothing happened, because there are no compatible updates for PSE 11.
According to information on the Adobe Website, your camera wants ACR 8.3 or higher. PSE 11 will not accept higher than 7.4.
PSE 12 will accept ACR 8.5.

It's October now, PSE14 has been released. I can't remember the exact dates for either US Thanksgiving, or Black Friday, but that's when the sales should start.

I got the new PSE14 last week for 79.00. I decided not to wait for the Black Friday sales. Thanks, Lou
