This is first year I have had Baltimore Orioles at GGG in Mission, TX.
There must be a family or two for the number I see.

They don't get along with the Hooded Oriole that are here most of the time.

Thanks for looking

Very pretty and nicely composed. It was nice of him to pose for you.

Do you find these birds are very shy? I have a different species of Orioles and have to get shots through the kitchen window. If they even suspect I'm there, they take off before I can click the shutter.

No, most birds are tame in the same setup day in and out.
What species do you have? The Hooded and the Bullock's
The Baltimore and the Hooded Oriole will set for 30 or 40 shots.

This is how I get most of my bird pictures from the window at home
or from the window in RV when traveling. That way I in AC all the time.

Thanks for looking and the reply

Thanks for showing your setup. I've been shooting through a closed, tinted window with a shade down most of the way. Maybe if I set something like this up, they'll get used to it and not fly off so quickly. The tinted glass obviously presents its own set of problems.

We get a pair of Hooded in late spring. They're gone for the rest of the year, but there are other shy ones for whom this type of arrangement would work.
