Looking for a 15 inch laptop for travel. It would only be used for pictures and Lightroom6. Would like to spend under $1000. Thank you for your help

I have had great luck with my Toshiba (14 months old). My son (IT also) has also had good luck with them. Price is also below your $ point.
Greg
Thanks Greg.....there are so many, would you recommend a particular model
Tom
I don't have a recommendation on models but I would recommend an i7 computer with 16 GB of memory. That would cover you well for any photo editing, that you are likely to do into the future and you can easily get them under your $1,000 figure.
Another thing to look for in the laptop is an IPS type screen. The perceived brightness changes very little with viewing angle.
Sorry, accidentally entered the same twice.

QVC has had some great deals on Dells, HP and some others with lifetime service too. IF in the USA look at their site.
I would not go with a Dell. I have one and it started shedding the screws holding panels on within a year. Then the screen hinges gradually seized and the hinge brackets broke off. The battery went south and I replaced it only to find that the charger had gone bad. I'm also on my second hard drive. You'd think I haul this POS all over the place and abuse it, but the biggest trip it's ever taken is from my lap to the table next to my chair. Never another Dell laptop.

Bite the bullet and get a Mac. You will never regret it.

Thank you...I've only ever used windows..is there a big learning curve?
Would you be more specific on what Mac would be best for Lighroom6
Tom
I switched about 6 years ago - A little painful at first, but when I purchased it I also got One on One training package. Helped a lot. Would NEVER go back to a Windows machine. Am all APPLE; 27" iMac, 17" MacBookPro, iPad, and iPhone. Love em all

When I got my first Mac (an iMac desktop) about 7 years ago, I plugged it in and immediately thought, oh my God what have I done. After playing with it for a couple of hours, I thought, "where the hell have I been for 20 plus years!" The iMac is still running like it was new and I also have a 15" MacBook Pro with 16 gigs of ram. Retina display. That's the one I recommend. I do all my photo editing on it and love the color accuracy of the display. The purchase stings a little at first, but you'll feel great afterward. Sort of like a mega injection of B complex vitamins. If you can, go to an Apple Store and look at them. An associate will be happy to work with you for as long as you need and if you buy, will help you set it up. It's a great investment. I love mine so much, I sold a bunch of stock and bought Apple shares. I've made way more than the cost of my two Macs.

I would also HIGHLY recommend a MacBook Pro with Retina display. 16GB of memory, SSD, I7 etc.. The issue is that it will be about twice your budget. Personally, I use a 13" and find that screen large enough for my laptop work, less expensive and lighter. As I get older, lighter increases in importance, even if it costs more. Although the MacBook AIR series is lighter yet, I do not find them powerful enough for my normal work. Like some others, I doubted myself at first but am now well versed in the Apple OS and have no desire to switch back to Windows!
