Just attended a Webinar for the new features in ON1 Photo 10 - the follow on product of Perfect Suite 9.5. They've dropped the names "Perfect" and "Suite" and sell one product that incorporates all of the separate pieces of software. At $89.99, it's even a better deal than the Google NIK package which still costs $149.00. It will work as a Plugin with Photoshop, PSE, and Corel Perfect Draw, or as a Standalone program. All presets will be preserved. Right now there is a pre-order deal that includes 10 hours of instruction by Matt Klosowski (50 videos in all), and a 5 computer license. I pre-ordered mine today. It's fast, folks, really fast ..... sliders change the image in real-time with no hesitation.
A list of the new features may be seen here:

Thanks for the heads-up, Bob. I have version 8.0, never bothered to upgrade as I don't use it at all, preferring Topaz and occasionally NIK. Do you find it worthwhile? Or just another program?

There are several things I dip into Perfect Suite to do - Dynamic Contrast, a few textures, some borders, and adding Glow Effects. Their resizing tool is probably the best on the market right now. They will make it much easier to stack layers and there are in-frame masking tools to apply affects from one layer to another. Yes, it will be well worth the money. And I haven't even seen the video on the Perfect Effects module yet ...... THAT's the one I use most.
Looks very interesting. May be as complete a tool as Google Nik with apparently better speed. Compatible to Mac and to the version of Lightroom I'm already using. I like the idea of being able to sync edits between my iPad and my laptop. Thanks, Bob.
"and a 5 computer license"... Bob, just found out that you and I are second cousins!! Reserve one license for me...
Thanks, Your Cousin Don

That'll cost you a double Bailey's Irish Cream on the rocks.
Thanks, Bob! Looks interesting... I'm confused on the pricing, though. They are calling it a "Pre-order Upgrade" for $90. But, I don't see a price for a new installation. Maybe just a poor choice of words? Nonetheless, I will give it serious consideration... 👍
Count me in! Ordered my upgrade. I love ON1. Currently have 9.5.

Actually Bob, I ordered mine a couple days ago. If you don't have 9.5, they actually send that one and then you get the new 10 when it comes out in about a month or so, (and they even send the key for 10 when you order 9.5) if I remember correctly.
I had 9.0 and that one seemed to be pretty good in some respects. I do use Photoshop as my main workflow PP'ing program, but this new 10 will come in handy for a few things for sure.
And, WOW, a five computer license is really something else! I wish Photoshop would loosen up their strict and greedy restrictions, but I rather doubt they ever will.
Best Regards,
Tom
OK, I have submitted an order for ON1 Photo 10. ON1 included a copy of Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 (at no additional charge) with my order- I don't think this was mentioned in the ad write-up. Maybe someone can explain why I would need that if I'm getting ON1 Photo 10. Long ago I believe I tried a "Trial Version" of ON1, but at that time chose not to purchase it. Looking forward to getting the product in Oct/Nov. Thanks again for the heads up, Bob.
Even if you don't "pre-order" the product, the price after November 1st is still going to be $89.95, even for first time buyers. The majore pre-order benefits are the 10 hours of instructional videos and the 5-computer licenses. Those purchasing the product AFTER November 1 would have to pay extra for those items.
And yes 9.5 comes now. I suppose it's so you can get used to their product. But if you don't have it, wait for 10. The interface is radically different, much, much faster, and laid out in a better configuration. And it will load in the Filters Menu as a regular Photoshop Plugin, not in the File>Automate section.

That sounds very encouraging. I like On 1, use it mostly as a plugin, and the things you mention are things that will resolve most of the barriers I've run into when using it. I think it's a bargain, sounds like it'll be a good PS alternative for those who don't use CC. I expect I'll be getting it.

You've got a good point Minniev. If Adobe ever goes overboard on what they charge for their subscription service, ON1 could be used in Stand-alone mode. Unfortunately, you'd lose access to all the NIK filters and other plugins. Still, it has enough stuff in it to make it worthwhile. Come to think of it Topaz Lab's PhotoFXLab would do the same thing for all the Topaz Filters. And Corel PaintShip X8 would still run all of them.
