That's the colloquial name for it. The medical term is actually

Age-Activated Attention Deficit Disorder, a.k.a. AAADD.

My car keys are on a hook in the mudroom. My purse is always on the same table in the family room. The remote is on top of the TV (unless my husband used it last). My checkbook is in a folder with bills that need to be paid and extra checks are in a drawer nearby. The only thing I sometimes lose track of are my glasses. Since these are readers, and not prescription, I have a couple of pairs. One in my purse and one on my desk in the den.

It's just a matter of being organized. Not to the extent of being OCD, but reasonably organized. Put things in the same place and they will be easy to find.

That doesn't hold true for everyone, believe me.

I understand. We just do the best we can. I'm sure there must be little tricks that can be used to help us remember things. Unless someone is in the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's. There's not much that can be done.

I started the organization thing a few years ago and it works well for me!

We are close with a family that has not been as fortunate and the past 30 years have been rough. You're right, we do the best we can!

My wife and I often chide one another for forgetting different things and this morning I laughed and remarked that normally we forget different things, so between the two of us we are remembering enough. She was quite amused and agreed.

Re your avatar photo........The first female I fell in love with was Lassie. And yes, I know there were many different collies used in the films, and many were males. But nothing will diminish my loving memories of Lassie faithfully waiting for Roddy Macdowell to come out of his school.

All of them were males. Dogs were chosen because they have a fuller coat, they don't come in season and then blow (shed) their coat afterwards.
