For those Canoneers here who've entered (or are thinking about entering) the world of Sony Alpha 7R II (or any Sony a7), have you researched or personally tested any of the cameras using Canon lenses, specifically L lenses? Understand they can be used with an adapter but I'd hate to sell off all my L lenses without first understanding what to expect marrying them with a Sony.

I humbly suggest you check out the Post on Sony a7 MII for discussion of Adapters used to join Canon lenses to the Sony a7 line of cameras.

With the Matabones the tests I've read about so far have shown some Canon L lens work really well, some not so well. Google it.

I use the Metabones IV adapter with my Canon 24-105 L.
Focus is generally slow but accurate.

There was an article here a week or so ago about an Nikon to Sony adapter that let the camera operate automatically. They may have a similar adapter for Canon.

Okay, here it is -

Are you using the Sony A7Rii? The other A7 family members will autofocus, but not fast. Only the A7Rii will do it fast. And only woth the lastest FW loaded into the Metabones adapter.

You should wait. The adapter does not always work and people are having problems with anything over 200 mm. A couple of other things to note, certain functions and features with the camera only work with native Sony lenses this includes, image stabilization, the new eye focus feature and likely others will be flushed out in the next couple of months. Just hold on...
