I admit to being a strong proponent of The Affordable Health Care Act. I know many on this forum see it as the end of civilization as we know it, and I want to understand your objections. I want to post some of the facets of the law, and please tell me what you disagree with.

1. Individual mandate - everyone must have insurance
2. Children can remain on their parents policy until age 26.
3. The prescription donut hole for seniors is eliminated.
4. Children can not be excluded for pre-existing conditions.
5. Preventative health care is expanded.
6. Contraception (with religious exceptions) is covered.
7. Women cannot be charged more for insurance than men.
8. Women do not need a referral to see an OB/GYN
9. No lifetime dollar limits on coverage.
10. 80 cents of every policy dollar has to be spent on health
care.
11. Adults cannot be excluded for pre-existing conditions.
12. National debt decreased by $100 billion (CBO estimates)

Now please don't tell me about a government takeover of health care. This law is a totally market-based approach to universal coverage which completely maintains the private insurance market, much to the disappointment of many Progressives like myself who wanted a single-payer plan (read: Medicare for all). Which of these facets of the law do you object to? I really don't get it. If you choose to respond, please refrain from name-calling. Give me facts with sources for your viewpoints. Just as I won't quote MSNBC, please don't quote anything from FOX News.

......having kids covered on their folks policy till they are 26? WTF? Kick their asses out and learn how to fend for yourself. grow up and take some responsibility in life.

obviously you know nothing of paying taxes.

Quit being a whiner and get with the program. Ooops, sorry....you are a taker and don't understand how to be a responsible citizen!... You just know how to leech off of the system.

It's about time they helped # 11 people, with pre-existing problems.......Legit problems,.......LAZINESS DOES NOT QUALIFY!

I've been paying taxes all my life. My paying taxes has absolutely nothing to do with my child being on my coverage. I also know how hard it is in this economy for young people to find jobs that even offer health care coverage.

On a side note, you have to be one of the nastiest people on this forum. I find certain people here rather strange, but I would never use the crude language you do towards people. As I said in my original post, please refrain from name calling. It only diminishes you and your argument.

I do not believe the government should or does have the power to mandate individuals to buy health insurance. I believe that the bill will increase, not decrease the national debt. I also do not see where you quoted any sources for your statements. 8-)

This health care bill is six THOUSAND pages in length. What's in it that will surprise us down the road is my question.

Listen here pal, I'm only nasty sounding because I'm sick and tired of you(and I mean YOU) and a few other "open-minded" jerks that think they have a right to tell others what to think in order "not" to offend "your way of thinking."

Well SCREW YOU! Who the hell do you think you are? I worked my whole life for what I have and I'm tired of being told to be sympathetic to your way of thinking(or values). G.F.Y.S.

Anytime you'd like to meet in person to discuss this, my friend, you know where to find me...You don't see me "in hiding."

This isn't the first time we've had "words" and I'm growing tired of your B.S. grow a pair!

I love a mess o worms like this,,,lol

I stand with tschmath 100%

Where I live I am forced to buy car insurance as is every other driver in Kansas. Works for me.

A recent stat that I read says that out of the nearly $7,000 I pay yearly for health insurance, just over $1,000 of that goes to cover the person who has no health insurance. I will be happy when everyone has to have it.

Another point, bills should not be voted upon until what is being proposed is read in it's entirety. To have to pass a bill to find out what's inside it is a farce. The fact that it is so lengthy shows how disengenous the writers were. 8-)

You are forced to buy car insurance only if you choose to drive a car. The government does not mandate you to drive a car. 8-)

My statement about the national debt was taken from a report by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. The other items were taken from a combination of many media sources. If you need me to, I can quote directly from the law itself.

As to the mandate, this argument by conservatives has always puzzled me. We are all required by state laws to carry car insurance. Whys is this any different? The federal government already mandates health insurance payments in the form of Medicare deductions. Why is this any different? And is the individual mandate your only objection to the law?
