I have never seen that before!
Nice capture. Wing tips do emulate flower petals.

Wow! Fantastic, it took me a full minute to find it. Without the heads up I never would have.
Now it's a classic!

It was a natural pose for him. Just abut every time he lighted it was like thatÂ…way inside any of the flowers that allowed for it. And you are right Nik, I think it is a survival thing. Cloudless sulphurs lay their eggs on willow trees, which are a yellowish green at early fall when the butterflies of the new generation hatch. So they look much like the tree leaves.I used to go butterfly hunting along the creek that runs parallel to interstate 240, when I worked at Holiday Inns Reservation Center on Lamar.
I made dried flower and butterfly arrangements in clear round or egg shaped jars. They were a hit for awhile but I just lost my urge to butterfly hunt anymore. It was a leftover from hunting with Papa for the collections he was amazing for identification purposes.

It was a natural thing for that butterfly. It hid like that in several flowers that were deep enough. thanks for the Thumb!
