I would like to know of a program that EASILY removes unwanted objects from a photo, in addition to the many tweaks available in Picasa (my favorite). Many thanks for your help.

Wow, bit of a loaded question.
For openers, what do you mean by "unwanted objects"?

I use PSE 12. If I am editing a photo that for example, has some small spots (a blemish of someone's face, a spot of dirt on a boys knee, an airplane in the sky that I don't like), then the healing brush will take care of that in short order.
If I am editing a photo that has a tree growing out of someone's head, it is not difficult to move it, or remove it altogether, but it takes some forethought as to how to fill in the space left by the tree.
If the kid from next-door is sitting in the picture too and looking his usual grouchy self, I can remove him too (or I can plant a different head on his shoulders) but again it takes some planning AND will likely take more than one, or even a few clicks.

Adobe is working on a feature that will automatically remove what it considers distractions.

1. No such thing for other than tiny spots on otherwise an uniform background.
2. The heart of the matter is selecting the replacement, and done right, it is far more complex than just a few clicks.

I have contacted The Miracle Software Company and will relay their answer to this query as soon as they reply!

Try to not photograph unwanted objects in the first place.

I once saw some info on a new feature in Photoshop called Median. You could take a few pics of a scene and it would exam them to determine what pixels had changed location and then remove them. Landscape scene, tripod, unwanted static data like people moving.

As sure as I say there is no such thing yet as 'one click' object removal, some one will come right back with documented proof that 'XYZ' company has been doing that for years. I do agree with Morning Star that this is a loaded question.

I have been using Photoshop CS3, now CS6 for a few years now. With the spot healing brush I set the brush size and paint over what I want gone. With the patch tool I draw a line around what I want gone and drag a patch. However, some objects require more elaborate methods to remove the object seamlessly, and this will take far more than 1 or 2 clicks.

If you are reaching the stage where you consistently feel the need or desire to remove unwanted objects from an image, it's probably also time to ask yourself if you want the software that does the BEST job of editing your images, or the one that performs a quick fix (and is usually apparent as such). Keep in mind, trusting software that does a one click removal means that you will undoubtedly have to trust a software programmer that doesn't know you, your likes or your image to make the decision about what is unwanted and how to replace it. Do you really want someone else making those decisions for you?

Agree. One click would necessarily give up control!

Wow, all the responders. Thank you, each and every one. I do realize I control what is in the scene I am shooting, but my main concern here was to eliminate those ugly power lines overhead, or the glasses on the subject, or those people drifting around the back of the stage, or the neglected driveway leading up to the gorgeous house on the lane. That stuff.

For removing overhead wires, there is a program (or plug-in, I've never used it), called Wire Worm.
Removing glasses altogether? You really want to do that? I've worn glasses since I was 12, if I had a photo taken now without them, nobody would know who I was. Removing glare or reflection from spectacle lenses is a different story, though. I suggest you search YouTube, I'm sure there is something there telling you how.
For the driveway, you could copy and paste a car as gorgeous as the house... or remove or replace the garbage can, trim the hedge, etc.
But for any of the above solutions, there is no one-click solution, not even a 2- or 3-click solution. For each and every one, you'd have to carefully look and determine what needs to be done, then make a copy of your photo and working on that copy, try it out. Sometimes what you think is a solution, will only make the problem worse, sometimes what you haven't considered as a solution at all, proves to be the magic bullet.

I use Photoshop Elements 9 and I used it to clone out a light and light pole from one of my landscapes (that light was strategically placed smack dab in the center of the frame in order to ruin my shot!); I enlarge the photo to 11x14, had it printed, and you couldn't tell that the pole was ever there!

Is it easy to use/do? Yes, once you learn how. Buy a good guide book or two to help you along the way.
