I certainly do like it, Corolyn, and this is the first time I've ever seen or heard of a Dayflower!

Ha! Its a weed!!! Or a wildflower if you like. But once it gets a hold in your yard you will never get rid of it. It came to my yard via Mom's garden in the dirt around whatever perennial I transplanted. Didn't take long, now I have it everywhere.

Just be glad it isn't in your yard Randy. It is a beautiful flower but so small and insignificant in comparison to the trailing crawling taking over weed! As with the spiderwort it came from Mom's garden.

Does it attract bees, butterflies or hummers, Corolyn?

Yes, bees and Hummers are some that come to drink from the Day Flower. So I guess it does have it's better qualities.

thank you Sue. It is sometimes hard to get a good photo of it. For some reason bright blues and bright reds just will not photo well.

You are right Corolyn. We have Asiatic dayflower (Commelina communis) in almost every flower bed on the property. We yank it out as soon as we see it but it comes back every year. It is considered a non-native invasive weed. Pretty flower that lasts for a day but it will take over.
