A circular polarization filter might have taken the glare off the table and vase, thereby showing more of their detail. As it is the glare is distracting and the flower color might have been richer.

I agree with John, that blown highlight on the table distracts much from what could be a lovely composition.

But isn't the blown highlight exactly the point?

A $100 glass in front of a $1,000 glass doesn't fix the big differences in light, nor would it make any discernible differences in the tones of in the rose.
There was no glare there, which is what a polarizer reduces.

The point of the exercise was to find the best exposure for all the reds which were entirely backlit.

It was an exercise in exposure of a difficult situation.

Enough already!

They're beautiful, Pierre! The backlit reds of the flowers remind me of the paper poppies sold for the veterans, just the right amount of red, not too red, not too pink. Well done.

To each his own I suppose, but it's that so-called glare that makes this image so appealing. Beautiful work, Pierre! I love it!

Thanks Angela.
One of these days I'll reshoot the idea, with ideal lighting conditions. Hopefully, there'll be roses left in Sandra's garden.

Thanks Sylvias.
Overcast skies would have been nice, but, we take what we get when trying stuff out.

And a very well executed endeavor my friend... The feel is quite nostalgic to me!
