There are many for sale because there are many out there. The Canon 24-105L is one of the premier mid-range "walk-around" zooms, and there are millions of them out there. I want one.
Not only is this a great lens and very flexible, (some folks use it 75%+ of the time) it is packaged with the new Canon 5D MarkIII as a "kit".
Most folks spending $3,500 for a camara body already have this lens or one like it. Those unable to buy just the body get the kit which includes the 24-105 lens for $4,300. That's a good deal for the lens. They then sell the spare lens. If it is in a "white box" (no markings) then it probably came from a kit (some kits have the marked red box that we are used to seeing). The white boxes are the same lens, hood, caps, and same warranty, (as long as it is a U.S. Warranty!!).
I just paid $825.00 for mine one hour ago
Have the warranty usa from Canon
Great! That's a good price. B&H sells them for $1,049 for the white box and $1,149 for the retail red box, both USA warranty.
I'm sure you will enjoy this flexible lens. It is tack sharp and I keep it virtually parked on one of my SLRs. Let us know how you like it.

I bought one about two months ago and paid $930.00. You got a great price. I think you will find you love it. Cheers.
I was even able to register the lens with Canon
It's a great lens. I bought one when they first came out and it was my favorite "walk about" lens. I let my daughter take it with her on a study abroad trip to Italy 2 years ago and it is still on her camera. Oh well - since she is trying to get a photography business started I think it's more important that she have it. If anybody is "on the fence" about buying on of these lenses I would have no problem recommending it.

Mind if I ask where you found it for that price? I'm in the market for one also, and $950 is about the best I've found.

THERE ARE A WHOLE BUNCH ON EBAY
They are on Craigs list here for $800 all day long. All of them are from the 5DIII kit and as stated above and they only wanted the body but the body only is not available so they bought the kit, sell the lens, and break even. I did this with my 7D. I couldn't find the 7D body only for the price I was willing to pay, so I bought the kit with a 28-135mm lens. I sold the lens as factory new with warranty never touched by me, still in the bag for $300. I did better than body only price.
