I too like the second for the same above reasons. I think what would have made two the winner, would have been if the tree was leaning the opposite way so it's flow would have complimented the milky way. And just a personal preference but kissing the foreground with a bit of light from anywhere off frame, but not directly behind the camera , which makes the subject look flat, would make the image pop.
Either way you produce some beautiful shots, and inspire others to try the same.
