Anyone using the Pentax K-3 ll camera- general comments?

Anyone using the Pentax K-3 or K-3 ll camera with the 300 mm f4 lens- comments?

Anyone using the above camera(s) with vintage Pentax lenses?

Thanks for your remarks.

I'm shooting with the K-3 and several different lenses one is the Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 DG macro. The lens is Ok for the price. The K-3 needs a good lens to show its best assets. The K-3 is a great camera as well as the K-3 II. Since the K-3 II has come out the K-3 has come down in price quite a bit. They are basically the same camera with a few differences like pixel shift on the K-3 II. Some say the continuous tracking on the K-3 II is a bit better than the K-3. The Pixel shift technology has to have absolute stability for it to function properly so that leaves out any kind of hand held shooting so in my book the K-3 is the better buy. Both have "programmable anti-aliasing and a host of other features not seen on some of the other higher priced brands. Its solidly built with an all metal construction and weather sealed and the in camera anti shake works on all lens that fit the K mount setup even manual lens.

I love my K-3 but like any other camera its not going to make you an instant expert its just a tool.

I got way too much noise with the K-3.

I shoot the K3 with the 300 f4 lens combo. I have several other lenses including an older style FA100 macro which has became my primary lens 70% of the time. I have had very good results and think Pentax is hard to beat for the money.

I have a K-10d and a K-50, with the $10.00 adapter, I use my old glass just fine, a 200mm telephoto, a 28mm wide angle and the good old 50mm f/1.4 standard lenses. The only thing is that you must use the manual focus instead of automatic. I always, and always will be a Pentax user, they are, IMHO, the best!

I will be receiving my K-3 ll tomorrow :) My thought was to pair it with the 300mm lens and add a teleconverter later on to increase the reach. Lens gets good consumer ratings and although heavy still much lighter than other long lenses on the market. Unable to find any long lenses for my mirrorless cameras other than very slow ones. Also looking forward to using vintage Pentax lenses on a camera body that has stabilization and focus peaking. Thanks for your rely.

I looked at both cameras (K-3 and K-3 ll) and decided on the latter which was 100.00 more. The "pixel shift" is of some interest but like you say everything has to be still. I mainly got the camera for the internal camera stabilization and the ability to use my vintage Pentax lenses without an adapter. Also Pentax has a 300 mm f4 lens that is relatively light and relatively affordable (note that I say relatively :) I love my mirrorless cameras but the choices of longer lenses is dismal. Thanks for your input.

I have the same vintage lenses as you. I just bought the 200 mm from Ebay after seeing Flickr postings of that lens. I have been using my vintage lenses on a Sony a6000 with an adapter but would like to try out directly on a Pentax. The Sony a6000 does not have weather proofing or in camera stabilization and on the Oregon coast you need both. I see that the Pentax K-3 ll has focus peaking which will help with the manual lenses. My new Pentax arrives tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

Oh hope that isn't the case with the K-3 ll :(. Always some kind of trade off. I used the Canon and Nikon full frame cameras and I found any significant increases in exposure in post caused quite a bit of noise even in those cameras (even in Raw format). Need to get it right at the beginning in the camera! Thanks for your comments.

I have the K3 and love it. I also bought the 60-250 F4 DA lens and the two are great together- very sharp. I have an old manual Pentax 50 mm F2 that I use as well and it's sharp. I'm thinking about buying the 100mm macro. Great camera!

I noticed that lens- got good reviews. My son has the 100 mm macro and he loves it. Nice compact size too. Thanks.

I recently "upgraded" to a K-3ii from a k-30. I also purchased a Sigma 18-35 f1.8. BUT. My Pentax 60-250 is still my favorite lens. All the way around it has THE best pictures of any other lens I've tried.
