This is a true fact from Sunday's local newspaper (Idaho Statesman). A company in Emmett is marketing a new shotgun round for shooting down Drones. It is a 12 gage 3 inch mag shell with steel pellets. They sold out their first run of 96 cases in two weeks.

If someone shoots down my quadcopter which I guarantee will be flying legally and safely, they better be prepared to pay me replacement costs for it. And a new model would be nice to have...

This is nothing other than steel shot in new packaging.
Just like zombie ammo.

Most places have required steel shot, for hunting, for a while.

For waterfowl only (federal regulation).....not for regular small game like rabbits, pheasants, grouse, quail, etc.

Now there's a series approach!

Actually with a nine pellet load you aren't likely to hit a hobby drone beyond about 40 yards due to pattern spreading.

I didn't know they could sell DU ammo.

Do you fly it at a designated flying field ?
My old Curtiss P-40N R/C airplane that I used to fly came under the strict rules of the FAA and AMA. Wondering if your quadcopter does too ?

It's a joke! I think that they offered that advertisement back around April Fools Day, when there was all of the discussion about shooting drones down.

YepÂ… and it's illegal to shoot one down, any more then to shoot some ones car you don't like. Then there is the issue that some of us can shoot back.

747's have certain flying laws that DON'T APPLY EITHERÂ….
But just for giggles, show us the FAA and AMA law that requires YOU to fly at a designated site with your non-auto pilot RC gas powered airplane flown for non-commercial purposes. Don't bother with your local rules that make you do so, or lack of property in which to operate it- because that is all you will come up with.
