Captain Jack Sparrow Composite

I posted this in the Critique section but I think this is were I should have posted it.
Went out and shot some local Cosplayers over the weekend and didn't think to make this a composite when I shot it, but I kept asking Captain Jack were his ship was but he couldn't find it. I will post the before and after and
what I did.
I used a selection to cut out Captain Jack and the dock away from the rest of the picture and then brought in the background of the ships but Jack still needed something to rest against so I repainted the original brick wall in. Now the wine cellar was shot I took in a cool wine cellar at top of the rock golf course. The wine cellar needed to be adjusted so I used control point while hold the control key to manipulate the bars. The rest was curve adjustments on the separate layers and a overall curves adjustment for the whole image. The original background had a green cast to it so I used a hue saturation sliding the hue slider to the left about -30 to get the color in the background. Any C&C would be great and if you want to play around with this shot have at it, Thanks Greg

Greg, this is really nice work. Everything about it is outstanding, the pose, the lighting and the composite all work really well. Nicely done and thanks for posting this so I can remember one day to learn this technique myself.

I'm happy you like it, I kept asking Captain Jack where his ship was because I just didn't know how to shoot his character in this modern industrial environment. So I figured this old dock on the side of a old worn out warehouse would have to work.

I like the concept. You did a good job with the background. One issue I see is that the background light does not match the lighting on the man's face. You can tell it was not natural light, whereas the background is more subdued.

I see what you are talking about with the background light. But what I think I need to address is the shadow in the wine cellar since it is so prominent I need to have it coming across the deck Captain Jack is on, and that should make you really feel there is another light behind and off camera right that is the main source of light for the dock area and the sun in the background is a back light.

Too good to play with. An ace of Captain Jack. Well done indeed, Greg.
