This opinion piece has the usual hyperbole, particularly in its headline. Obama has frequently jumped to conclusions and unjustifiably vilified cops. But he isn't responsible for any specific murder of a cop, and Cruz didn't say that he was.

That claim is misleading at best. These politicians received donations from a group, and then either returned the donations or gave them to charity after the nature of that group came to light.

All politicians end up taking dirty money and the only way to stop it or at least cut it down is to limit donations to $200 per year. Of course due to the SCOTUS the free for all shall continue. I will say one thing for the SCOTUS, they got almost everything wrong this year so at least they are consistent.
