Canon 7D Mark II problems with fast UDMA7 card

My new Canon 7D Mark II can't seem to format or use a UDMA7 CompactFlash card over 400x. I currently use a 64-gb Transcend 400x card just fine, but I had a backup 32-gb 700x card that I can't format (that card worked fine on my Canon 7D, and works on a friend's 7D). I just got another Transcend UDMA7 card, this one at 1000x, and sure enough, my Canon 7D MII won't format it. Anyone else had this problem? Are there settings I'm not doing right?

Steve, you should call Canon, they will know if it's something you are doing wrong. I believe they are closed on Sunday, so you may have to wait. Meanwhile, maybe someone here knows. Other than video, I'm not sure there is much reason to shoot such fast cards. Once you exceed the speed of the camera, the card speed is just along for the ride!!! Good luck with that card problem. ;-)

I am using a Transcend CompactFlash UDMA 7 32GB 800X 120MB/s and have no problem at all in my 7D mark II. Steve, are you formatting the right card while it is in the camera. I have already did the wrong card and thought that I had deleted what was on the card to see that I formatted the SD card by mistake. Never said that I was the sharpest knife in the drawer. Good luck and let us know how you make out please. Sometimes the simplest answer works?
Press Menu button and go to SET UP1 Scroll down to Format Card, Press the Set button, Format Card 1, press the Set button. Display reads Format Card 1 All data will be lost. Turn wheel to move to the OK box. Press the Set button and bingo, format is completed.

Thanks for your replies. I don't have an SD card in the second slot. When I put in the new card in Slot1, it takes me through the format process, but then says it can't format

At the risk of asking the obvious, when going to the menu to format the card, you do select the correct card to format, yes? 1 for the CF card, or 2 for the SD card.

If you do have #1 selected, your next step is to note any error number that shows with message, and then contact your nearest Canon Service Centre (See page 510 of the manual).

there's no error message. It just says I can't format the card. But I use a 64-gb Transcend 400x card no problem.

How many "UDMA7 CompactFlash card over 400x" have you tried this with. Your question seems to indicate more than one. If it was only one...
