Went to the LA Zoo with my Granddaughter and was looking forward to trying my hand with the Flamingos. I have seen lots of wonderful photos of Flamingos over time and have been very envious of what others have produced. I took my old Canon trombone 100/400mm. I have been considering selling this lens to raise a little cash, but when I see the results I think twice.
I like both the color version as well as the B&W. Both have their merits.

Call me phobic but a flamingo on a lawn to me is a statement the owner is 'gay' or 'lesbian'
So no flamingos on my lawn.

Both are wonderful images! The older 100-400 remains a strong performer. The focus speed of the new model is the most obvious improvement followed by the IS performance. But, the older model is still an excellent lens.
Beautiful close up. Love the color version!
Very nice, I like both...
# 1 for sure.. B&W just does this one no justice.

Love the color. Something just gets lost with the b/w.
Very well done Nalu
Don
Very beautiful photos.

Agree with other posters. The B&W is nice, but once you see the warmth and the dimension in the color version there's no contest (for me, anyway!).
