WOW. If you did this on Kodachrome, you're GOOD! The depth of differences in lighting and the juxtaposition of the indoor and outdoor reality is really intriguing.

The glass and the polished floor create a very interesting interplay of light and colour. Well spotted.

This is one of 160 slides I've had digitalized on to CDs. Most are on K64, some on K25 and a few on other, less satisfactory color positive films. All were taken before leaving Calif. in'93 and going back many years.
Many thanks for looking and for your insightful observation.

I really like the composition and the reflections and the lone red skirt matching the outside sunset but contrasting with the cool blues. Wonderful light and sense of space in this "inside looking out" image.

Thank you for looking and for your great comments. The image is much better than my ability as a photographer. One of those rare magic moments when everything comes together.

I've looked at this quite a few times, and while there are lots of things I like about it, there is something that bothers me. I think you have done quite well with the exposure, highlighting the Capitol building, not blowing the lights in the hallway and capturing the golden glow of the late day sun. The reflections are very nice. I guess I wish that there were less people. One or two walking through would have given scale to this without cluttering the image.

I look at this one a lot also.. The rails to the left bother me, but when I remove them (crop), the image is not balanced. I really like it. But I see the people here as critical to the mood of it. There is a presence - it isn't crowded, it isn't empty. This to me is a very seductive image about a time lost. For me, the people make it, is part of the contrast between pure architecture and it's utility - people. In a similar vein, a playground without children would be incomplete.

Believe it or not, that's City Hall!! This is a very impressive stretch of architecture.

I really like this shot a lot. There are so money things going on in this image, the beautiful architecture through out this shot with new inside the windows and the old outside the windows and the beautiful arching lines of the windows. The shadows on the marble floor make this image work so well to appreciate the light coming in thru this Great Wall of a window fading away to the background. And the center of interest works so good even being off the rule of thirds this beautiful Court House outside is perfect. In the end this shot all comes down to being balanced! If you had tried to expose any one thing inside the overall balance of this image wouldn't have worked so well.

But Sandra----the bartender would have had nothing to do!
Although it's now digital, I still consider it best as shot. Let's agree to disagree. I really appreciate your comments. Bob

Greg, You have covered almost everything I feel about this image. Almost. First: I believe the milling, drinking music lovers---are integral to the success of the photo. And second: My extraordinary luck! I'm not and have never been this good a photographer.
Many thanks for your great analysis and encouraging words.

Of course! I never consider my view of images to be right, I just consider them to be mine. :-)
