It does
not require the expense of a lawsuit. That is an absurd idea! The first advice a good lawyer would provide is how to avoid anything that foolish. It doesn't even require hiring an attorney to write a letter.
And any attorney worth listening to would tell a potential client exactly that right to start with.
Sorry I am not a professional, but I have seen many proof sets from professionals with with their watermark plastered across the whole proof, opaqued down so the photo is visible. Would that deter others from using your photos?
