My new Olympus 12-40 f2.8 lens will be arriving today. I currently own the Olympus 12-50 f3.5-6.3, so I really did some agonizing over purchasing basically the lens with the same coverage. But.....I read so many good things about it that I decided to go for it while it was on sale. Anyone else have experience with these two lenses?

I have the 12-40 2.8 Pro Lens and am very satisfied with its performance. I had a GAS Attack about 2 weeks ago (yes, B&H Photo employees also get them) and bought the 40-150 2.8 Pro Lens and it is superb, heavy but superb nevertheless.

There is a huge difference between the 2 zooms. The 12-50 is good but the 12-40 is world class

The 12-40 is never off my E-M1. Fantastic lens.

I too, have the 40-150. Am very impressed with it. I got it on sale, and wouldn't you know, there was a better sale the next month.

I have the 12-40 f 2.8 lens and it has never let me down. It was the first major lens purchase that I made after buying the M-10. This lens pairs wonderfully with the M-5 too (even better camera stabilization) and it is my go to combination for wet or dusty conditions since both are weather resistant. The photographer (me) fails sometimes but the lens never has.

I think you will love the lens, and - like many of us I will bet it will be your "leave on the camera" lens.

I have a few prime lenses in the range that this one covers - and they are f1.8....
But this lens is SO good...that I rarely resort to one of the primes, given that I have decent light.
