wuz cleared sec/sar (another GDM 82) but have no idea how high that was...

True, but so is jaywalking. Rarely enforced and minor penalty maybe.
If the letter of the intent of the law was followed, there would be a long line many years old. Not an excuse, research a little and you may find it's a fact.

There are a lot of weird ones! In my earlier days I had one that related to crypto access. Found out it was confined to my at that time Secret Clearance. Within a year I was handling classified logistics for troops in Viet Nam. Who would care about the classified info I had access to? Not much doubt the enemy knew a heck of a lot more than I did!

everyone in my now defunct company had secret, except housekeeping, and some of those also.. we had areas where the local fire dept was instructed NOT to enter (let burn)with a memo (DD) on their wall...
as a funny aside, I had an area (closed) which for whatever stupid reason, they stored a classified camera (ultra high speed 16mm)[ b4 video], which was listed as being worth $10k.. the camera was Totally useless, ran thru 100 ft film in a few seconds, otherwise I would have played with it,, but every 3 months or so, someone from the govt would show up with someone from the property office to see that GDM "camera"....

Funny when you mentioned housekeeping! I worked in a facility for a couple years that entailed critical shipments of an extremely, extremely sensitive substance. It's movement was right out of the movies. My point being that I knew at least a day before management told me because some of our maintenance staff, janitorial type, would let some of us know because of certain functions they performed. They were always right! They had lower level clearances.

and to answer the rest of your question, you either get fired, lose your clearance or go to jail, unless, of coarse you are politically connected to the party in power... shit!
or, in your case, don't read what the OP says about not injecting politics...BTW, buy a dictionary.

I am going to opt out of any reference to any such things. I have the right to remain silent...
Tom Blanton, Director, National Security Archive is an expert on classification. Their website would provide you with objective information of this subject. Personally, having worked over 40 years w/classified information My assessment is what is and is not classified is completely out of control and need fixing. Not a political statement just honest

Exactly! Kind of grey for being so clearly defined! Adding in the many civilian contractors helped, I would imagine, to increase the disarray. Not a new issue for sure.
Keep in mind that on more than one occasion classified label just covered some general's or Admiral's screwup, hot date with another Admiral's, General's wife.
The padding of their expense account (how many billions of Dollars was misplaced in Iraq? )
By the way, I do not portend myself to be very knowledgeable on this subject. My intent was to point out that sometimes our perceptions need a little clarity before formulating our opinions. There is a lot of useful info available. An alligator mouth coupled to a humming bird butt is not usually a good thing.

Do you realize that if you just released information that is classified, you may be in violation?   Probably about that easy...
