The Southern California Lifeguard surfing contest happened on 8-26-15 at Middles in San Clemente. The lifeguards are amazing surfers and nose rides were a dime a dozen. I tired to get a flavor of the contest and the environment which surrounded it.

Is that girl sitting in the water with a wave coming at her with a camera in her hand??? Great way to 'get the shot'.

While I strongly admire the architecture ins photos 2, 3 and 11, the water patterns in photo 4 are just superb. I must be getting old when I prefer good art over good architecture.

Are you a surfer Edward? Both of those photos are nose rides.
Thanks for the great shots comment.

Bobbee, I think you are referring to #10. The answer is YES! She has a nice camera in a very expensive waterproof housing. You can see the same girl and the camera in #3.

Thanks so very much djtravels. Shooting surfing is my favorite subject. Being a surfer myself, I know exactly when the surfer will be doing something worthy of a photo!

Actually Jim, I could have since I do have a P&S waterproof camera, but I decided to stay on the beach and shoot in my beach chair with an umbrella and my 600mm lens. The photos are better with the good camera than the P&S.
