anyone using this camera.? what's the good and bad things with the camera
Joe - I bought one of these when they were offered by Canon for $179. After having used it for a short while, I believe it is one of the best bargains I ever stumbled upon. I particularly like the IQ, the quick accurate focusing and the vibrant color depth that it offers. Here is a sample 'grab shot' taken at a distance of >30 feet at a local car show:
Nice camera for the price. Lightweight, huge zoom, Wi-Fi, very stable even hand held at extreme zoom. Good close up photos.
Noisy at high ISO but that is expected. Focus can be poky depending on light conditions and subject.
Good camera for hiking due to huge zoom and being very lightweight. The Wi-Fi comes in handy when you put it on a tripod.

You got the SX60 for $179??? What a bargain!
I've got the SX50, and really love it. The super zoom and stabilization are fantastic. I've heard that the IQ of the SX60 isn't quite as good as the SX50, but the wifi sure would be handy sometimes.
If you have a chance to try it before you buy it, or even to hold it for a bit, do so. I think you'll be impressed.
thanks guys, i think i mite get it
My error, wtompkins, your eye was sharper than mine. The Canon SX that I purchased was the 50 rather than the 60 model. Thanks for catching that error. My regard for the SX50 stands, however.

would you tell me how the fifty is, im looking for second camera
I have both the 50 and 60. I prefer the 50, but due to health I haven't really given the 60 a chance. Regardless they are out standing cameras for the price and size. I use to use the Canon 5 Mark II with pro lens, but so heavy I had to give it up. Some shots with the 50 are as good as the Mark II. Linda gets outstanding shots with the 50.
I picked up the SX-50 direct from Canon on that $179 deal mentioned above as a backup camera for my DSLR and for the incredible reach. It's nice and shoots RAW if I want to. I've been happy with Nikon superzooms over the years as well. Pretty hard to buy a bad camera anymore, decide what you want to shoot and match something in your price range up with those requirements. Good luck!

I have an SX60 camera and like it a lot, although for long distance shots a tripod is almost a must have.

Eastern Rufous-sided Towhee
Every so often Canon offers the sx50 for $169.
I've got the Nikon P610, better reach than the Canon but have decided it is not quite as good as the Canon.
I recently got one and while still learning all of its capabilities I am pretty happy with the results so far.
