I was wondering what kind of cameras are used by the Military photographers.
I would guess they would be Canon’s, but I could be wrong.

Believe it or not, some of the Army branches go out to B&H Video and Photography for their equipment purchases, but so far all we have used has been Canon equipment. 5D Mark 2 and 3, along with the canon HD PX300 video recording equipment. That is just listing a couple of, but the list goes on.

In the 70's, when I was at Clark AFB in the Philippines, we used Nikon F and Graflex XL. The XLs kept breaking, so we bought Mamiys C-330s at the base exchange. The Graflex XL was replaced with the Koni Omega. I think the Navy used Topcon Super D's and Leica M-4. Not sure what the medium format of choice was for them. I got out (of the Guard) in 1980.
I'be curious to hear what they deem worthy now.

The local public high school here has had a couple of the military bands come and perform and their photographers come with them for this. I was at 2 of the shows and all I saw used by them was Canon.

I was a photographer in the Air Force for 24 years. Most, if not all, Military photographer use either Nikon or Canon cameras. At one time the Military was issuing cameras and they were Nikons. Later on they allowed us to buy our own cameras, within our budget, and we could buy whatever suited our needs.

I'll bet. Something my dad didn't really want to talk about.
He was a gunner on a B-24 in the Pacific.
I was in the PI twice and graduated from high school there in '73.
I worked in the base photo lab, sometimes printing photos from the morgue. Thankfully, they were black & white.
I remember seeing C141s being loaded what was either ammunition cases... or coffins. That's as close to the reality of war as I ever want to get.

The most expensive out there! It's not your money. It reminds me of a friend who was in public eduction that was told to go to the school system "warehouse" and grab everthing he could otherwise his budget would be cut back next year. Your government at work!

Exactly. That's why we're in the shape we're in. But this a photography forum not political. I'll leave it at that!
