Occasionally when posting a reply, I look back at what I just attempted to write. I then can see that there are so many mistakes in typing, spelling , grammar etc that it looks as if it was made by a total idiot. As a result I just delete the reply and give up. Just wondering if I am the only one who does this.

Nope. not only the one you are. me idiot too... I only post about half the replies I write. :)
I don't know if you know this, but you have up to 1 hour to edit anything you may have posted, including deleting photos and changing them out with a better one. I have done this many times when I notice the photo I posted looks too dark on the UHH Server. I delete the first posting, add some brightness to the photo, then "Add new attachment" with (store original) selected. Many, many times I have had to edit my comments. Open the page, go to the comment, then click the Edit button. You can then correct syntax, spelling, and maybe the whole thought. It beats deleting and starting all over.

I do know, and I use edit to add things that I forgot to include. But as I said when the post just too screwed up I just give up.

Sometimes, mainly when I'm using iPad which has a mind of its own and freely edits to suit itself, I think it has a resident gremlin who likes to make nonsense out of anything you put in.
If you're using a "smart" device, it may not be your fault if you come up with a crazy post. Check for gremlins.

I've started writing in a note pad program.......then copy and paste to UHH. I get interrupted a lot and find this easier. Then realize what I said doesn't make sense, start wondering who wrote it, hope no one has seen it and start over.

Ah good to know. My photo always look good until I post them. Well maybe I am exaggerating a little about always looking good. Nice to know I can give it another try before it becomes final
When you hit preview as you are posting it will bring up what you have typed so you can read and edit as it will look when posted. You can't attach photos first because if you preview then, they get lost in the ether and you have to re-attach them, but it makes it easy to see what you've written before you post.

Good advice already on editing comments. With the photos, be sure you're exporting in sRGB color space. The first photo I posted here shocked me, it turned from very nice colors to a sickly green, because I hadn't used that sRGB color space when I exported it from LR - it looked fine on the computer but terrible on UHH.
I hear you. I really felt like an idiot when I began to teach myself PS CC. When it referred to a Smart Object, I thought the were referring to my step daughter.
