Em5's can be found for 400...the 30mm was only like 200 new. Overall, I wouldn't pay more than 500 for the set. Em5 is a good camera, but it does have its quirks, and the firmware is no longer being updated on it. Personally I'd rather have the new em10ii that is being announced tomorrow.

Don't know much about the d300, other than its an aging camera, somewhat like the em5. If you want something smaller and lighter, the em5 is a good option. That said it was one of the first serious mirrorless cameras that started the mirrorless movement. Check to be sure the lcd frame isn't cracked. Some em5s had that issue.

A D300 used in reasonable condition would retail for around $400.00. The Sigma is supposed to be a pretty good lens. I wouldn't do it. The D300 may be an old camera, however it was an "industry leader" at the time of it's release-- and one can still do a lot with that camera/lens combo

I have decided to keep my D300 and lens since I would not be gaining anything other than a smaller camera.

I feel it's a good decision. KEH has the two items for around $780 total

Aren't the image sizes significant?

Works for me… i think it comes down to the style of photography practiced & the fit. Not disparaging the OM cameras at all.

I have the D300 it's a good camera, it's getting old but always a great back up camera. You made the Right choice.

I have both cameras. I'm more comfortable with Nikon, but the Em5 is good. The big difference is weight. Do you have back or neck problems??.
