Underwater Speedlight Question

On a whim (and for a good price) I recently purchased a Nikon 1 J4 and the associated Nikon underwater housing. It seems clear that the J4's flash will be partially blocked by the housing, but I'm wondering if it can be used to trigger a Nikonos 105 Underwater Speedlight as a slave unit. I've done a little underwater photography with an underwater P&S, but I'd like to try something a bit more advanced.

I do mostly snorkeling (including at night) in the Carribbean.

I tried to submit this item to that forum, but that forum was not listed as an option for submission. Thus, I assumed that it no longer existed, but I'll try to submit again. Thanks for the contact information.

Not familiar with this housing, but am sure that there is a way to make it work. In addition to the great guys at B&H take a look at Reef Photo and Video.

I am not familar with the set up you are describing, but I will offer the followig thought. The #1 Golden Rule in underwater photography is "never light the water between the lens and the subject" Any time you can used an off set strobe, with a diffuser if possible will give better results by using the edge lighting of the strobe and not pointing it directly at the subject.
