Hi fellow photographers / artist. New here so bear w/ me,thanx
I'm not sure if I'm to introduce myself here or ask my ?, so I'll do both. I love photography! My son recently bought me a Canon Rebel EOS, before that all I had ever used was a point and shoot. I have mostly taken landscapes and flowers & objects that r interesting. I have just been given an opportunity to b a dance/ fashion/ design/contest & competition photographer. I have the lens that came w/ the camera 18-55mm which from what I've read is the worst lens u can use for this type of photography. Are there any tips anyone can give me so I can get some great shots until I can afford the type of lens I need for this type of photography. I will be shooting mostly in the studio in low light, fast movement, sometimes outside. I'm trying to learn & understand apet, shutt,f/stp, ect. Its all a lil overwhelming. renting a lens is not an option @ this time. All input & suggestions are welcome & appreciated.
OOPs, Supposed to introduce my self HERE & ask my ? in forum, sorry, bear w/ me, :-)
you need to raise the iso to a higher level to compensate for low light. Learn to play with your aperture so your subject will be your main focus, not the background. You should go out to places at dusk and try adjusting your settings so you can learn how to stop the movement and sometimes some blur of motion is acceptable if you catch the subject of the picture and it doesn't detract from that. Practice, Practice then post some pics and ask for help so people much better that I can help you. Before you do the job. Good luck this is a great forum with a lot of knowledge let us help you and each other
Thanks for your reply, I did post my ? in the wrong place, but I have it in topics under Dance photography now, w/ a few pics. I've only done 2 shootings, just from the info I have already received under Dance photography the 2nd soot came out much better. Again thanks for your reply nice to meet u. :)
