Cleaning sensor on Canon EOS

I watched the YouTube videos and spoke to a man at a camera store about how to clean it. I got 2 swabs thinking that would be enough for this time, and I got the fluid. I did as I was instructed and it didn't work after using the 2 swabs.

How can this stuff not be coming off? The camera is 18 mo old and has never been cleaned before so I have many spots.

Sending it in its the last resort... How the heck can I clean this?

I've used as many as 4 swabs to get my sensor clean.
They are not cheap, but it's still less expensive than taking or sending it somewhere, where you could be w/o your camera. One local repair place would do mine for $25... while I waited. Sadly, he retired. He was near a great deli. My excuse to have liverwurst sandwich.

How did you get so much on the sensor? I had two different Rebels over an eight year period and never did see a consistent spot on an image.

All it takes is changing the lens in a bad environment or since the rebel isn't weather sealed, having it in a dusty environment.

A deli could be a good place to clean your sensor. Multi-taskingÂ….

It was a German deli, so a Leica would automatically get a low ticket number and be served first.

I guess we don't have any Taiwanese Delis here, but we do have a Kosher deli near by, so you've given me an idea: I'm gonna go "clean my sensor".

Thai works for me!
A few of my "lesser" Nikons are made there.
( makes me wonder, does India make any cameras?
My absolute favorite food.)

If the blast of air doesn't work, getting the spots off with the wet cleaning method is a nuisance. Typically, I'll make a pass with the swab, look with the loupe and see that the original spots are gone, but now there are others. And so it goes. Eventually, the sensor gets clean, but it's a nuisance.

Get yourself a good supply of swabs and a loupe to examine the sensor.

I'd say you must live in a near perfect environment. I get spots on my sensor fairly regularly from changing lenses. I went about a year before I ever attempted to clean it, but since it's not sealed and I do change lenses, life happens.

I think it took me three or four swabs before I finally got off most of the spots. It'd been a year since I'd bought it, and had never tried to clean it. I put way too much fluid on the second swab and ended up with a nice wide smear in one quadrant. Had to use a third swab to get rid of that.

Once I got it clean, I keep it clean with a loupe and a brush. Most of the specs just dust off with the brush, and I can see all of the fine details with the loupe.
