Have any of you used ControlMyNikon? It's being offered for $20 instead of $30.

OOps. Just realized the OP is more than 3 years old. I guess that price discount is no longer in effect!

I downoaded the the 14 day trial today. Its pretty unbelievable quality for tethering video and stills on my D7000 to my PC. The fine focus alone is amazing on my 17" monitor. I just ordered a 10 ft. usb 2.0 mini cord to connect my camera more than 3 ft. from my computer. I will probably buy the software.

The other day you were talking about stacking photos, could you please explain? Thank you.

That wasn't me but I can explain. Stacking is where you take several images moving the plane of focus incrementally either using a focusing rail or by adjusting the focusing ring. The results are then combined into a single image using stacking software. The two "industry leaders" are Zerene and Helicon Focus. The idea is to shoot at a mid-range aperture that represents the most sharpness of the lens. The software takes aslice of each subsequent image using the portion within the narrow DOF. It is typically used with close-up or macro images where the DOF is quite narrow. As a sidebar: I use Helicon Remote which is the tethering software to capture the set of images and then use Helicon Focus to combine them.

Attached is an example

LoneRangeFinder,
Those are amazing macro close ups. What camera and lens did you use?
