Why must there be nasty comments when a subscriber makes a statement
Maybe because the statement offers no facts or support for the statement.
Morris, how would you react to a post that read:
Don't eat vegemite!
Can you clarify, fosgood? As an aside: First thing everyone might want to do after installing Win10 is to go to Device Manager, click on each item listed and check for updated drivers. I found 4 that needed updating on my computers.
Just someone trying to stir the pot, as usual

Good one! I had not thought of that. Thanks.

I totally agree and wonder sometimes how a thread gets started with such a bold statement and no details on UHH. I also noticed the OP has not yet chimed in on the subsequent comments to the original post. BTW, I have upgraded two Win 7 PCs and have not found anything that simply won't work. And for the OP, downloading Windows 10 does nothing to the PC.
Have a dual boot desk top with W7 + W8.1 thought I would try
W10 on the older slower W7 drive (both ssd) did the deed install failed got a message/code (Migrate.Data operation).
MicoSoft got one thing right thou W10 reversed everything and set W7 back to where it was at the start. That said I won't even let it near my 8.1 drive to many important things there.

I have four cameras and haven't had a problem using Windows 10 with any of them.

They stopped support for XP, I believe they still supports 7
You can get updates from Microsoft for Windows7 extended past January first 2015 if you pay for it.

You must be clear when you make a statement like this. Here is a link that does validate the date you mentioned but you need to put some context around it.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle Mainstream support which may include feature updates and service packs does end on the date you stated but extended support which mainly involves security patches and not new features is good until 2020 for Windows 7. The Windows community just found out what the end of support date is all about with the official sunsetting of Windows XP although it's still being used out there.
Lastly, if you have paid Microsoft for support you need to find someone who will do it for free.

My windows 7 still gets updates. As far as snide comments on the site goes, there appear to be several people on UHH who are legends in their own mind and we saw an example of one of them with his 2 AM bar gibberish. I am sorry to say he resides in my State.
Gee, I found his statement quite amusing.

There is no longer any support, updates, or security patches for XP.
Windows 7 will continue to get security updates until 2020, at no cost which is the main thing for most people.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycleAs for the OP, the initial statement about most cameras not working is rubbish. Microsoft has done a very good job with Windows 10, probably their best ever.
If you start with a healthy system with everything updated the upgrades go very smoothly, even with old computers. There are bound to be a few things for some people, but that seems to be much less common than many people expected.
Mine works just fine with the card reader, and I have already used Lightroom and Photoshop.
