And why all the bile?

As well - do YOU have any actual knowledge of the subject - or are you content with being a sidelined critic?

Mark, not sure where the anger is coming from. Do you think he is a Sony plant, advertising the camera? Do you have something against Sony? Just wondering.

I have nothing against Sony. It is just Cholly. This nondescript individual has really nothing to say - other than Sony. He talks of nothing else. He puts down every other manufacturer. Claims Sony works with every lens out there. It does not. Blows away every other camera out there today. It does not. Claims all Nikons are really Sony cameras. They are not. But what irks me, is that he has yet to produce any image of any type from any camera (including Sony) to indicate he even knows what he is talking about. And if he did, he would realize, it really is not so much about the camera as it is about composition and light. Good photographers can shoot with anything. Simply put, he is a troll, taking up time and space. I did the following images for a project on Monday. These images are not about any camera or sensor - it is all about composition and light. Argue as you like, advocate as you like, even Sony but if you can't produce quality images, why is he here?

BEAUTIFUL images Mark!

And - I for one - don't care if you took those with a Brownie box - or a Hasselblad medium format - YOU created those wonderful shots.

Seems to me that Sony as a company is moving FAST in the camera industry. I WANT the A7S for that high ISO. What a star camera that would make. Luck I have a 6D so I can't justify it.

And the A7 (not ii) has a very low prefocused shutter lag making it perhaps very useful as a infrared triggered bird in flight type camera.

And the A7rii faster focus speed with the adaptor on legacy Canon lenses. Makes my mouth water with the nice sensor and all the focus points.

I am thinking if these cameras were just a hair cheaper, they would take the world by a storm. I suspect a lot of people are starting to use them.

I read all the Sony threads here with great interest. These cameras (to me) show tremendous potential. And Sony as a company seems to be moving the technology we dearly love forward.

I post lots of images... (makes me an expert huh!?) Wish some of them were from that full frame Sony sensor. G.A.S here... I can feel it.

And this IS very nice work. I think Cholly DOES like Sony. And perhaps wants more Sony friends -- is that really a bad thing? Yes, perhaps certain words like "ALL" can be misrepresented, but those cameras DO seem to be adding to what we have to choose from.

I am watching Sony with that G.A.S. gleam in my eye as well...

I think that they will continue to strengthen their position and become more practical for many. But - morse for folks that use tripods and long lenses - or short primes.

Those adapters don't always work and don't work on larger primes. So stop spreading garbage . From slow to auto focus to no focus at all they don't all work (i.e., Tony Northrup). You don't have every lens made in the last 50 years do you? Cite some one who has every lenses and tested them all or just shut up. Where do you come up with stuff? Don't you even verify before you toss it up?

And if you put on BIG the adapter, you lost the the few ounces of any weight savings from the mirrorless and some of these adapter are at $400. You don't mention that? I doubt you even have the A7R II. I have yet to see any images from you from any camera. Why are you here???

Nope, not much balanced consideration of 'composition and light' there . . .

Absolutely not but I can talk the talk and walk the walk. How about you? You have made a couple of postings about Islam (???), very old film cameras (not relevant as other have posted) and how to drill a hole in a lens cap to tie it down (when you can purchase a lens holder from anywhere without damaging anything). Why are you here? Demonstrate your vast knowledge, and expertise by posting some of current work. I am waiting ...

Mark... I did not intend to be a smart a$$ with this comment. I have much - very much to learn as a photographer. Your points about putting up images is legit in my book too. It may not demonstrate that you are expert, but certainly it demonstrates that you are "trying" and "care" and those two aspects absolutely describe me..

Wait on.
Your, or even my, photographic ability is irrelevant.
What I complain of is your unjustified and unnecessary rancor against a fellow poster. He is as welcome to his opinion as you are to yours.
From your previous posts I know it is difficult for you, but if possible, just remember that before you become offensive.

Bullseye! Although the Nikon sensors are made by Sony, it is the the software and specs for the sensors that originate with Nikon, or so I have read (Not being an employee of either company that's the best I can do).

I like my Sony a7II as a walk about camera. I do find the viewfinder a bit limiting. The lack of GPS is a big oversight in my opinion. I do however really like the focus peaking. I hope Sony does a firmware upgrade soon so I can turn off the proximity sensor that turns off the LCD when I want to use a Hoodman Loupe to review my image in the bright sun.

Sony is making a good camera. Take it or leave it. It is a newish camera, and it will take time to iron out the kinks like the button placements (some are hidden to the finger adjacent to taller buttons), development of a full spectrum of lenses, etc.

In the mean time, Canon and Nikon will be working late hours trying to leapfrog them as Canon and Nikon have been doing to each other for years.

My $0.02

Griff --- I love the idea of "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing badly." It is an outstanding principle of life that I fully believe in.

Cholly --- I always read your posts with great interest, because they DO give me meaningful and pertinent information about these great cameras. If you would JUST simply DO what Mark says though... Show us VISUALLY what you like about these cameras. We operate logically and visually and it can't be hard for you to do.

Everyone else --- sorry for mucking about in a thread that should be about the Sony A7 MII. Keeping ON TOPIC is something to strive for.
