Just venting my frustration with Amazon/Nikon. I ordered Nikon p900 (backordered) on July 17th. I even bought in advance a uv filter and 2 extra batteries. Still waiting for the camera. Been more than a month now.

Anyone bought this camera from Amazon and received it ?

The demand is extremely high and production speed is fairly low since it shares absolutely no components with any other camera Nikon manufactures. Nikon misjudged the demand and released the camera with what has turned out to be way too small of a pre-release inventory.
They are trickling in, I have seen 12 of them here so far, still no idea when I may see more of them, its been a month now since my last 4 showed up.

I ordered mine about 2 weeks after they were advertised on Amazon (pre-order, actually), but yes, I received mine about a month ago (and have used this camera almost exclusively since receiving it).

Its well worth the wait.i ordered mine, the day they were announced, and got mine fairly quickly, it truly is a outstanding camera!! here are a cople of example shots i took while down in Miami, the first shot was a blip on the horizon, the second was a royal caribbean cruise ship, about 12-15 miles away....all hand held shots....

I waited about 2 1/2 weeks for mine from Amazon and that was about 2 months ago. Have you tried other sources? You have to look every day to get lucky. That's how popular they are. And by the way, when you do get it, you will have a lot of fun with it. I'll cross my fingers that you get it soon.

I'm expecting a similar delay on the 200-400 I put on back order a couple of weeks ago. They won't even start shipping till mid-September and I have no idea how far back in the queue I am.

It is definitely worth the wait. I learn something new about it every day. I had fun with the remote shutter release last night and this morning. Order Alexander S. White's "Photographer's Guide to the Nikon Coolpix P900", a great instructional/reference.

Good luck and I hope yours' comes soon.

Do that and he will end up at the END of an even LONGER pre-order waiting list.

Maybe you still have time to cancel and get a real camera that shoots RAW.
