I've never had the opportunity to take pictures of hummingbirds. On my visit to my mother-n-law's house in NC they had a feeder. Let me just say to all those photographers who take pictures of these little speedsters that it is a lot harder than I thought. I had to change a lot of my settings, and focal points on my camera. After many shots I have a few that I think turned out nice. I think this is my best one, but I'm still going though my shots!

Nice pose the feeder in in focus, but the HB is not.

Try to focus on the birds eye or head next time.

I know i tried shooting these guys with auto focal points on the camera and was having no luck. I changed it to single point focus and by the time i got focus he would move just ever so slightly. I was aiming for the head believe it or not LOL. The higher ISO shots still didn't really help me well and the images were not as crisp as I wanted. Tricky little birds! Maybe I need some more practice with moving targets with my camera.

Manual focus on where the HB is going to be when he back up from the feeder. Then take conterminous shots as he is there. Some time I take 50 or more shots just to end up with one.
