There ARE 640 Acres in a Square Mile.
Does the government think we are all FARMERS...!!!
Why do they tell us areas involved in Forest Fires in Acres.
There are 640 Acres in a square mile. If a Farmer has a 650 Acre farm he has just over a Square Mile in farm land.
Now that means something very concrete to me. It's more than just losing the farm.
So there you go, the next time you hear of a fire covering 325 acres, you'll know it's half a square mile. Spare a thought for those of us in the UK who not only have acres to understand but hectares and even kilometres, meters, centimetres and millimetres in addition to yards, feet and inches. 😢😫
Hopefully the proper amount of rainfall and fire prevention can preclude all of those measurements!

Are those square acres or cubic acres? ;-)

If you get kicked in the right place, you'll have a couple acres.
That equals a Section, which is further broken down to a quarter section or half section.

Swede  ;)
That works out to 2,590,080 square meters if anyone cares. Or precisely 27,880,301 square feet. That might get a little awkward however when speaking of a very large forest fire.
