Just started taking pictures of people. I usually take wildlife and landscape but the wife wants me to join her and maybe start a part-time business with weddings and family pics. I took these when the Grand kids came to spend the weekend and I just got the camera out and followed them around. Please critique them.

are you adding the blur in post? I'm asking because it does not look natural at all.
Yes I added it with Picasa

this is going to be my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt and a shot of tequila, don't add fake boken in post it rarely works.
I'm not sure if it's the fake bokeh playing tricks on my eyes or not, but it seems like your focus is very soft. The closet eye to the camera/viewer should be tack sharp. My favorite is #2, I love the way she is looking at the camera.
I like them and I adore the 'softness' of them. Usually I prefer tack sharp photos, but in this case, I think the softness enhances them. Very beautiful children!
Thanks I will keep that in mind. This is why I love this site!!
I know there is rules for these things , But rather than pick them apart , I think they are expressive and i like them .
Thanks that's kind of what I was going for but I welcome all the comments good and bad that's how I am going to learn.
I think you did well on these images. I agree that most photos should be sharp, especially in the eyes, but these poses render themselves very well with this effect. I like the ones that aren't looking at the camera. Good job, Albo.
keep playing around with this, your doing fine.

I absolutely love the effect you have applied to these photos. They look very painterly. Remember, everything in photography is subjective to each individual's taste.
Now, if NOBODY liked the effect..........you may be on the wrong track. But these are beautiful. CUDOS
