WHAT IS BEST WAY TO TAKE PICTURES OF SMALL ITEMS TO PUT ON INTERNET...E-BAY AUCTIONS AS AN EXAMPLE...???

I HAVE A POWERSHOT G-6 CANON WITH ZOOM LENS :

MARKED 7.2-28.8 8 mm 1:2.0-3.0

I NEVER SEEM TO GET GOOD CLEAR CLOSE UP RESULTS...

DO I NEED ANOTHER LENS TO GET SUPER CLOSE PIX ??

How close will the lens you have focus to? If it is farly close and you are just wanting these for ebay. Take a shot and crop it way down.

If you can get sharp focus it will work good. Focus is the key. And it will be your cheapest way to go if you only want to do this. If you want to do micro shots of bugs, then a lens for this is best.
Erv
If you don't mind, I could show you some shots with my 28-300 I did this weekend and did some cropping on.

Use the Macro setting on your camera & it will take great close-ups. Great little camera! I use mine for close-ups & eBay pics all the time. Good luck, give it a try.

First of all I would use a tripod, self timer to avoid shake, very soft lighting, camera in manual and a long shutter speed.

Charlie: Spend $300 for an Olympus SP-800 UZ with 30X zoom. It will get you with in an inch.
new topic: I knew a Chales Quick in HS circa 1949. Is that You ?

If you don't do a lot of close-ups of the type you describe, and don't want to spend the money for a new macro lens, get a set of extension tubes. You could also get by with a lens reversal ring, but will have to shoot totally manual; a lot less money, though.

The Canon G6 does not have interchangeable lenses. It does have a Macro setting just learn how to use this feature and you'll be good to go.

These are the correct answers. Using the macro feature on that camera will enable you to get excellent quality images such as you require.
