There is a rampant and blatant disrespect for the rules and other members by some members of UHH. If you belong to a forum it is your responsibility to know the rules in place and to revisit said rules occasionally in case there have been changes.

At the top of each UHH page you can click on Home.
Click on any forum section and at the top of each main page is the link for that section's rules.

If you don't have permission to insert your photos into the OP's thread; don't! I see this daily and it has even been done to me. It is not a given that photos shared in the gallery are to be critiqued. Most are just being shared. When critique or PP is not requested, don't do it.

Everything is spelled out in the rules for each section.

Don't tell me to mind my own business. As a member of this forum it is my business.

I agree although I have been guilty of doing this myself. I have seen on occasion where the original post gets totally lost when all the comments are directed at the inserted picture or pictures.
This brings up a question. How can you show your pictures of the same subject without them getting lost from the subject at hand by not being posted until the next day.

Rbo36. Me personally, I prefer to wait. I want the focus to be on the OP's thread, not the photos another member has inserted. Just the way I feel. However, if you get permission from the OP the photos being added should have relevancy to the OP's thread.

However, my observation is that once the additional photos are introduced the focus is no longer the OP's thread; it is on the added images. I am saddened by this and feel badly for the OP.

Gotta realize that this is basically a senior citizens hangout and many are very new to the whole world wide web thing. I try to cut them the extra slack as often as possible. I'll be a senior citizen myself someday and there will probably be some new form of technology that i just don't quite understand either. I hope that there will be considerate people to show me the way without trying to make me feel like an idiot while I learn the ropes.

wrr: No disrespect intended; but what does being new to something have to do with respect or lack of? I am so close to retirement age I can feel it tickling my bones. I wouldn't dream of expecting anyone to cut me slack if I were rude or disrespectful.

yeah, I understand what you are saying. It seems that many of these posters that don't follow the rules, and that is your complaint I think, basically see this as a place to have a conversation. So they jump in posting pictures when they shouldn't be posting them thinking they are just joining the conversation. I agree, a simple reading of the rules should mean that this never happens but judging from my own grandparents, they just don't seem inclined to read the rules about anything. If you have a solution then please share but I'm guessing there is no solution. We will always be blessed with our elders doing things 'Thier Way'!!!

wrr: I don't necessarily believe the seniors are the main offenders. Seniors have a tendency to be reticent and not so quick to jump in when they are unsure. I have no solution but when I am unsure about something I ask! That's the way I was raised. If I were to exhibit the disrespect I so often see (not just here) my dad would rise up from his grave and put my in my place.....or scare me to death.

Honestly there is no way to police this and stop it. It's just always going to happen and someone is going to have to be the bad guy and point out the "error" of the offending posters way. (just be warned you most likely will get some nasty pm's)

As for C&C, I've requested more than once that we have a sub-forum just for C&C and one for showing off your work/snapshots, we got the Photo Analysis forum, which really isn't a forum for C&C and I've really yet to figure out what should be posted over in that foru, as a result I rarely even venture into that section of UHH. When in doubt I have asked if a member wants C&C on their image but that has even come back to bite me in the arse and I got blasted for "asking". So as a rule, unless I know the poster or it's in the people photography subforum, I don't offer C&C.

Mother With A Camera:  or is it Mom?

My understanding is that the Photo Analysis if for getting help with a specific problem. Not a critique section. i.e. I was having a problem with the hair on my granddaughter and the dog's ears being excessively shiny. I posted the photos there and asked the specific question. It turned out it is apparently the display on my laptop, not the photos. I had spent months pulling my hair out for nothing. But now I know. :)
