Yesterday I posted some of my favorite Raptors we found while wandering around Southwestern Montana. In this post, I would like to share some White Pelicans found on the Ruby Reservoir. Considering we do a lot of trout fishing, this year we had acquired a couple of inflatable pontoon boats, about 8FT in length and I used one it to my advantage to approach these Pelicans. Coming from the water, they didn't seem to mind my presence, at least to a degree, and I was able to hang around them at a reasonable distance. All of these were taken with a 7DII, 400 mm DOII, 1.4Xiii extender, hand held, from my boat.
Hope you enjoy and thanks to those of you who provided some very nice comments on my raptor post. Appreciated!
Interesting reads on the migration patterns of Pelicans moving north. Have seen info on Pelicans in the very NE part of the country.
Another interesting migration pattern is Sunflowers. It's said that in another decade, the state that honors the Sunflower (can't remember which one) may be supplanted by the state to the Norh. ?????
Climate Change????
Boy. These are just terrific!!

Climate Change????? Yes, climate changes, as it has over the history of this planet. Nothing new here. I used to spend a lot of time in your neck of the woods. Did my first trout fishing in the streams of Steens Mountain and spent a lot of time at the Malheur (sp) national wildlife refuge. Also, spent many wonderful evenings with Howard, the owner of the Diamond Bar in Denio Nevada playing cribbage after spending the days chasing lizards in the area.
That was a long time ago however. Hope you liked the Pelicans.
Beautifully captured!
We enjoy them for a couple of months in central Washington State, as well.
