This is a NPR photography of a man.

http://media.npr.org/assets/img/2012/02/23/ap120127041800_wide.jpg?t=1333371754&s=4

If you pay attention you realize that the photographer and the crew around him made sure that any aspect of him as a man was hidden using posing and only posing.

A such, it is a lesson to be learned.

Would I see this 'woman' in the street, I would go "Wow!'

I saw a scantily clad guy on Bourbon St. one night that made me doubt many decisions I made in my past. :D

yeah, he's a Dutch male model, apparently very much in demand. not sure why the androgynous look is so popular, but hey, it takes all kinds...

Couple of things, the androgynous look has been popular for a long time and led to the models anorexia (among other things) it also led to 'sex-less' advertisement that in reality played on sexuality.

Why him and not someone else? Who knows, who cares.

What I am looking at is the skill demonstrated to photograph a man and turn him into a woman.

Thanks for the link, my sister and I was just talking about posing and how to pose. She of course is better than me as I have just started the adventure of research on posing. With the propoer posing you can make someone see the beauty they really hold. Thus this article proves that with posing and knowing what is around you can make this person in fact a woman vs. a man.

At least that is my take on it, thanks for sharing.

Well, we're all human, afterall - probably 99.9% identical regardless of gender. Makes you wonder why there has been so much oppression of women throughout history. Women are us, only slightly nicer.

I get your point about the skill of the photographer; however I don't understand why the need for this or what the viewer is supposed to react to.

It is and what English Wolf is pointing out is the skill of the photographer.

Wow! A photo of a woman with hollow cheeks, worried expression on her face, eyes that look blackened, general emaciated look to her, and it's a man masQuerading as a woman. Does our society have any love of the female gender? If I show this photo to my teenaged daughter, there will have to be a bit of talk about why our society seems to want to starve and beat women.
The concept is interesting; but the reality is disturbing.
